Who we are. What we do.

Lindy and Geoff Howard-Spink with 'Snowdrops' at Belmont Park.

That's us taken at Christophe Clement's barn at Belmont Park
with our triple Grade III Stakes winning homebred filly 'Snowdrops', now
one of our broodmare band.

How we're doing. The stats for West Lodge Stud Thoroughbreds.
From a total of
221 racing age (including two year olds at January 1st 2008) horses bred and 173 runners we have bred 107 winners of 294 races. 12 Stakes winners. 11 Stakes placed, which is 62% winners to runners, 7% SWs to runners and 14% Stakes performers to runners.

In the beginning ......

....we had shares in horses trained by Richard Hannon and early on he gave us a brush with glory when ‘Lucky Lindy’, who he bought for us, was second in the 2000 Guineas. ‘Lift and Load’ was another that Richard bought to give us our only Royal Ascot success. So far.

Serious involvement in breeding began when we joined forces with Sean Kelly and were leading consignors at the Tattersalls Foal sales in the 90’s under the Raffin Stud banner.

During this period we bred and raced top sprint filly 'Wildwood Flower' who won the Ayr Gold Cup and 'Snowdrops' who won three Gr.3 races and $594,000 in the USA.

Up to date, 2008.

Now breeding commercially is what we do. Today West Lodge Stud Thoroughbreds have 10 broodmares. Broodmares . We run the business from West Lodge, near Richmond Park in London and the mares are boarded with Sean Kelly at Diamond Edge Farm in Lexington, Kentucky; Bill Dwan's Castlebridge Stud in Ireland and Caroline Green's Templeton Stud.

We sell foals, yearlings, and two year olds in training at the major American and European sales  You can see the stock we have to sell by clicking on Sales Stock .

We keep some fillies to race for us, Richard Hannon, Ed Dunlop, Luca Cumani and Brian Meehan have all trained for us in the UK and Christophe Clement in the USA. In 2008 we will have six home-bred fillies in training plus half of a Cape Cross filly that we bought with Caroline Green as a foal.  Horses in Training
